30 Days to Clarity

Last night I made the decision that I was going to spend the next 30 days detoxing to clarity. I have been wanting to detox for awhile, but have been procrastinating. The other day, my angel guidance board mentioned that the next step in my spiritual path is detoxing and that the next step in my psychic development is meditation. I am determined to use these 30 days to open my mind. In the past my detoxes have lead me to have clear dreams and loads of energy. I am hoping that this one does the same.

Even though I started the detox today, I had a dream last night.

In my dream, a voice was saying to me "awake". Then I turned and saw the profile of a man that was literally clear. He was not so clear that I could see his organs, but clear in that he was good and translucent in appearance. You could see he was radiating white light and looked like he was pure. Then the voice was pretty much was talking about how that man was awake. Then it also went on to say something about auras being cleared. That was the end of my dream.

It was a very short segment, when I woke up and looked at my clock- it was 6am. I was almost like my mind was giving me the okay to do this detox and just go with the flow, because at the end I will be awake.

On my personal blog, Changing Woman, I will be discussing the details of my detox. There I will discuss what I have been eating and such. Here on the Closed Lids blog I will discuss the spiritual aspects of me detoxing.

Feel free to visit Changing Woman to read about Day 1 :)

Terrifying Thursdays: I Fear Not Bringing Desired Results

"I fear my goals not bringing the desired results" - Justan, NY

We live in a society where success is measured often by amount of money or fame. Pressure from society, family, peers, and our own doubts often hinder us into believing that our goals are not sufficient or worthy. Self doubt and outside influences often cause us to fear that our goals will not bring in the desired results.

To have a goal means that you have a finish line that you imagine in your mind. To get to your goal you must plan and organize the steps to your goal. If you are specific in your desires and what it will take to achieve the goal, you will gain the confidence needed to bring out results.

What you feel in the inside will translate on the outside. Eradicating the fear and self doubt from your mind is important in order to move forward in using the power of thought to achieve your goals.

After you put in your mind what you would like to achieve it is best to make it concrete.

1. Write it down- by writing down your specific goal, it brings it into actuality
2. Set a date- by choosing a date you are giving yourself a deadline to work towards
3. Plan- by writing a detailed plan of action, you give yourself a blueprint to success.
4. Review- by reviewing your plan every day, you keep the motivation within you
5. Rewrite- by rewriting you plan, you give yourself time to edit as needed

If you are a more visual person, you can create a dream board, using words and images that express your desired goals.

Now that you are organized, you have nothing to fear. You have written down a plan of action and you used the power of thought to put out into the universe your goals. The only thing left to do is remove the fear emotion.

Daily say affirmations to yourself to gain the confidence needed to eradicate the fear and self doubt of not achieving success. It is normal to have some doubt, but be mindful that focusing to much attention to your doubt will allow it to become reality.

You can and will achieve your desired results!

Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true. - Cinderella.

I cannot believe that it has been a year already! It was September 14th 2009, when I made the decision to purchase a domain and just start building a site. I had an idea, a dream, and I kept on persisting and it paid off. A year later, I now have many readers interacting on the website and it is rewarding to see people enjoying what I write.

Closed Lids, a modern, new age company, will be celebrating its one-year anniversary on September 14, 2010. This date falls between August 23rd and September 22nd, during the sign of Virgo. During this time, I will celebrate with "30 Days of Mayhem," which will include 15% off all products and services, as well as a weekly giveaway composed of books, crystals, natal chart and dream consultation. Closed Lids will also honor fellow Virgos and launch three new monthly blog series.

Closed Lids was founded to engage people in interactive discussion by opening them to new ways of understanding and assisting in reflecting upon dreams. Closed Lids' unique consultation style guides individuals who are looking for spiritual understanding and assists those who already have an understanding move forward in their journey. Closed Lids represents ideas that may or may not frequently be viewed or discussed due to societal taboos. These ideas include, but are not limited to astrology, reincarnation, numerology, auras, spirituality and other new age concepts.

Closed Lids is a Virgo and what better way to celebrate her birthday than a month long Virgo Versary honoring readers, Closed Lids, new blog series, and fellow Virgos?

  • Virgo Versary- In celebration of Closed Lids birthday on September 14, 2010, during the entire cycle of Virgo, all services will be 15% off. Sale starts August 23rd and concludes September 22nd.
  • Zodiac Signs- During the sign of Virgo, I will dedicate the entire month to all things Virgo. Hereafter, every month following will be "Rep Your Zodiac Sign" month.  I will dedicate that entire month to the corresponding sign.
  • Terrifying Thursdays- We all have fears and doubts. Terrifying Thursdays will serve as a safe medium where you can release your fear. I will randomly choose one fear from those submitted. and discuss the fear, why people fear it, and ways to overcome. The fear can range from mystical to emotional to physical.
  • Crystal of the Month- I will choose one crystal a month to discuss in length.

Please join me in celebrating my Virgo Versary!

Its Coming!

Its Coming! Only three people know the Closed Lids announcement. However, on Twitter tomorrow (8/23), I will tell everyone :).

I am having my first tweet up/tweet chat at 8pm, using the hashtag #closedlids. I am super excited for the 5 things I will announce.

I can't give everything away, but I will give a few hints:

1. I fear the space between the platform and the train, for some reason I feel like I am going to fall on the tracks. Tell me your fears and you could win a prize. More details during the Closed Lids Tweet Chat (8/23, 8pm hash tag #closedlids).

2. Closed Lids birthday is 9/14 when is yours?

3. They say a diamond is a girls best friend, but I personally like emeralds. What is your favorite gem?

4. 15 is one of my favorite numbers, what is yours?

Feel free to answer these questions, who knows maybe you will win a cool prize.

Mix It Up Monday: Flying Catterpillar- Elijah Muhammad Done Stole My Ass, But he ain't get my Soul!!!

Flying Catterpillar is the next guest writer for Mix It Up Mondays. If you would like to read more by Flying Catterpillar, She can be contacted via her blog

Elijah Muhammad Done Stole My Ass, But he ain't get my Soul!!!

I've always knew of funk/fuck what you heard soul singer Joi, however, I never really thought much of her until this weekend when I had the opportunity to witness her perform at 1 Musicfest in Atlanta at the King Plow Arts Center.  Man, oh man, I've been sleepin'.  Not only did Joi deliver a rockin' performance in front of a crowd of like only 25 heads that most likely had no idea who she was or where she came from and, not only is her bass guitarist probably the sexiest man in the universe (like that black jesus, how wack would I look if i put a razor to my chest sexy), but man, joi is sexy as hell.  And I'm not talking about oh, she sexy as hell on some homosexual type stuff.  I'm talking about sexy as hell as in when I saw Joi, I saw my reflection and she made me think, "Damn, I'm sexy as hell, I've been sleeping on me all of these years."

Watching Joi sashay across stage in an all black sleeveless, skin tight, hold no secrets cat-suit with a small booty, little hips and small boobies made me proud.  She's an official A-cup like me! Yes, not a b cup, but an A cup!  I''ve always been a thin girl and I keep telling myself "the spread is coming, the spread is coming." But, it never comes.  I think I was about 11 years old when I first noticed my hips begin to take a new form by the way they began to spread when I sat in the bath tub.  I was real real excited about that, but the spread kind of ended there.  Then I went away to college, a black college at that...can you say 3 meals and a cot?!? Can you say Fried Chicken Wednesdays? I probably gained about 10 pounds in pleasant places, I was pleased.  Then that beautiful brotha Elijah Muhammad started spitting game in my ear: "Here sista, read this book that I wrote It's called How to Eat to Live, you shouldn't be eating pork and stay away from white flour, watch out for those lima beans they might burst in your stomach, oh...oh and eat only once a day, you ain't no slave queen, it's time to stop eating like one."  Brotha Elijah was cool, he was a little flaky in my humble opinion (no bean pies for me) but he was cool.  Needles to say, he stole my ass, but luckily for me he ain't get my soul.  Once I started doing more of my own independent research I utilized the knowledge that I received from Elijah Muhammad and I transitioned into a vegan diet.  My 10 pounds in pleasant places vanished immediately.  I began to feel uncomfortable in my skin, I felt a little bit like skeletor and the comments of others did not help either, "girl you need to eat and put some meat on your bones","What? Why in the world do you need to detox, you are already skinny?"  "Are you sure you are getting all of your nutrients, how are you getting your protein?" Are you on a diet or something (said while chomping on some potato chips and sipping a coke)?

I've been observing myself a lot lately, and I realize that I've always subconsciously thought that to get attention from guys that I had to have a big booty, full hips and voluptuos breast, or at least one of the three. (I never really took my body part functions into account: ass for deficating and cusion, breast for breast feeding and hips for child birth)   But now that I'm beginning to really really invest in my spirit, I'm beginning to notice that it is my spirit and not my ass that attracts the opposite sex.  Man, you should see my spirit, it's pretty thick (extra chuncky peanut butter thick) and it's sexy as hell too.  A little voice over my shoulder is telling me to be careful with my spirit, because it has the power to recreate umbilical cords and rebirth Gods via mental conception. Watch out now : )

Our spirits are like magnets.  So whether, big booty or small booty, your spirit is what ultimately attracts an individual to you.  If your spirit is glowing, then you are going to attract some sun filled people to you, but if your spirit is dark and ugly then you are going to attract some dark and ugly spiritually malnourished people to you.  Alison Yates author of Why Some People Attract Bad Luck asserts that  "Your Aura, the invisible vibrational energy field that surrounds you, can act as a bad luck magnet. Your Aura, if it is damaged, tainted or contains negative dark energies can attract further negative energies towards you and repel all forms of good luck. Conversely, people with brilliant and bright Auras are magnets for good luck. They attract even more positive energies and good luck towards them and like a protective shield, bad luck and negativity bounces off them.  If everything they touch seems to turn to gold, it may be because their Aura is shining gold around them. Your Aura, on the other hand could be very dark and dull - thus explaining your bad luck (http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Some-People-Attract-Bad-Luck&id=2586178)."   So, if you keep attracting the same type of lame assholes, maybe you should go invest in cleansing your aura before investing in upgrading your appearance to attract another lame asshole.  You can cleanse your aura by utilizing crystals, smudging yourself with sage, meditation, cleaning your space, removing yourself from toxic people/environments and getting out into nature among other practices.

I digressed a bit, but back to Joi.  Seeing her whipping and dipping her A cup and her small booty across stage just confirmed to me that my phyical make-up is sexy as hell.  Well it's not even the physical make-up that makes Joi sexy, it's the confident aura that radiates her physical make up that makes her sexy.  But it was a pleasure to see my reflection glowing across stage (brown skin, lovely bones and a thick spirit).

Next Time You Complain...

My Positive Affirmation for August 16, 2010

"Today was good day: I am alive, I had food to eat/water to drink, and I have a place to sleep. Not many in this world can say the same" - L.Marie

We complain about so much sometimes, that we do not even sit back and think about the blessings that we have. Many cannot say the same, many are sleeping outside with no shoes on, many don't know when they will have their next meal.  Stop complaining and start living! Recognize your blessings and rewards.

Soulmates

How many soul mates can one have? Only one or multiples? I believe that you can have more than one soul mate, and it can be soul mates on different levels- same sex friends, siblings, lovers, etc.

Today I stumbled upon a blog post that spoke about the different types of soul mates. I am new to Dr. Rae's blog and I can't wait to read more, her blog is about the "Journey to Self: The Journey to Love."

I can connect with her style of writing because she speaks from the personal and adds in some academia. A nice balance!

When she spoke on the different soul mates she has encountered, I felt like we were sharing the same story. I also enjoyed her post about reasons why she enjoys being single. I also agree with her, that in order to find a great partner, you must work on yourself. She writes about love and fears with such open honesty, you feel like you are there with her as she writes the personal accounts.

If you would like to read more of Dr. Rae's work, check our her blog and/or Twitter

Stimulants: Yes or No?

Sometimes, I use outside influences to aid me in the dream world. I use herbs in teas, essential oils, journals, crystals, and more. I find that they are helpful and come in handy when I need them.

Do you feel when entering the dream world, it should be without outside stimulants? What are your views? What have you used?

Friday the 13th: A Whole Bunch of Nonsense

Friday the 13th,  for a superstitious person is an unlucky day. For me, I think that is a whole bunch of nonsense. If anyone has had bad luck on this day, it is only because they have given power to the myth. Those who give power to superstitions will eventually be overwhelmed with these beliefs and fall victim.

Next time a black cat walks in front of you, don't rush to grab holy water. Next Friday the 13th, don't stay in the house, go out and enjoy life. Life is what you make it.

What are some superstitions you follow? or laugh about?

Fake Teachers & True Teachers

Found this great piece on fake spiritual teachers vs true spiritual teachers. Enjoy!

* For a long time I've noticed there are alot of psychological manipulators who claim to be spiritual teachers....

* They know how to build rapport, how to anchor certain emotions in you...and more...so beware...and use your own intuition to weed out the fakes from the reals....

* A true teacher will never claim to be a teacher.....

* A true teacher is not looking for followers....

* A true teacher will encourage you to find your own path instead of following the herd or him/her....

* A true teacher just IS.... A true teacher does not boast overly.

* A true teacher considers himself/herself a normal average person just like everybody else.... Not being higher because of the knowledge or experience possessed..

* A true teacher is a student who learns from everyone (the ignorant and the enlightened)

* A true teacher is very humble... but not a pushover...

* A true teacher is a powerful listener and master observer....

* A true teacher is not afraid to shock others....and does not care what others think about him/her..

* A true teacher is not jealous of others...

* A true teacher will speak their truth with no remorse (sometimes comes across as being unloving but it is far from so)...

* BLESS

I hope you enjoyed! I'm grateful that you've had the opportunity to see this.

Enjoy!

Mix It Up Monday: Practically Intuitive- You can call me Al

This weeks Mix It Up Monday post will be from Practically Intuitive. She has a great blog about spirituality, self growth, etc all with a practical slant to it. If you would like to read more from Practically Intuitive, you can check out her blog, follow her on Twitter, or send her an email.

You can call me Al
"Hi, my name is Steve.  I’ll be your Spirit Guide for the entirety of your life on this planet.  Nice to meetcha."
Hmm, a Spirit Guide named Steve.  Well, that’s not too exciting, is it? Don’t all Guides have cool mythical names like Aloycious or Galactica? Darn.  I wanted my Guide to have a cooler name than just … well, Steve.
Shakespeare said "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" – meaning, of course, that it doesn’t matter what you call it, it is still the same thing, holds the same energy, gives the same feeling.
I get around.  Online, that is. (Ahem!)  And the question about the name of one’s Guide is asked on just about every spiritual forum I visit. Looking underneath the question, though, I see the  need to take the concept of a Guide (which is, admittedly, a pretty broad concept) and bring it down into what it means for them in their life.  Having a name for that big concept helps make it personal.
Through the Soul Realignment program, I’ve honed my natural abilities to connect with specific Guides in Spirit and get names and ways in which they work for you as part of your team.  In addition to that, I can bring through specific life assignments on which they work with you, soul groups of origination and a whole host of other information that is stored in the Akashic Records.
Now, I’m going to say something that may be controversial, so hold on to your chair.
I don’t think it matters what the name of your Guide is.
Truly.
You can call that energy whatever you like: Boris, Cookie, or Tom (or Al!).  It’s the same energy, same guidance, same group that works with you, regardless of what you call them.
(It’s a bit different for Ascended Masters, Archangels and guides and teachers of that extremely high vibration and I’ll write about that more as a follow-up to this post.)
The way the Guides present to me (my own and other teams when I contact them in readings for clients) is basically as a "round table" – as if you had called a meeting of trusted friends and family.  They speak to me in a united voice – always using the term "We" as to make clear that it is a collective voice.  In fact, I asked my Guides if it was important to know the name of each one in the group.  They responded that regardless of what you choose to call them, the energy, the intent and the vibration are all the same.
In the world of Spirit, intention is all.
If you wish to speak to them, all you have to do is say "Hey Guys … can you come talk to me?"  and they’re right there.
(Here’s a secret: they’re there even if you don’t think they are.)
I have had clients ask for names and the Guides give them, I suspect, to make the person asking feel more at ease about the whole thing.  And that’s fine. No harm, no foul.
For example, one of my clients was given the name Magda for his primary guide.  He resonated with that because close family friends were of Hungarian descent and the name made a connection with him.
Do you NEED to know the name to make contact? No.
Can you make up your own name for them? Sure.  They’re fine with it.  They all kind of go with the flow.  Which is a nice quality to have in a Guide, I think.
So, what name would YOU give your Spirit Guide and why?
~~~~~~~~~~~
Call to action:  If you’re interested in knowing more about how your Guides work with you on a day-to-day basis, email me and let’s talk.
