Take the Spiritual Journey 30 Different Ways

I always have been an avid reader, at every library visit I would pick up three fiction and three nonfiction books. Eventually this habit led me to the new age section of the library. By the age thirteen, I created my first natal chart and from that point on I became interested in a range of topics.

I feel that my life purpose is to aid individuals through community work and my writing. I have found a way to uniquely combine my many interests and apply it to alternative interests.

Throughout my youth and into adulthood I have had precognitive dreams, been empathetic, and intuitively lived life. Interested in my own dreams and those of others, I applied my natural gift with research and began analyzing dreams. As a result, I came up with the idea Closed Lids.

Without reading and experimenting with different thoughts, I would not possess the knowledge I have today

8 Steps to Recording Dreams

Dreams have messages that can assist in all aspects of our lives. Take the time out to record and understand dreams and learn from the messages of the subconscious.

Through the dream example below, I will show you how to effectively record your dreams in 8 steps.

These 8 steps will assist you in recording your dreams. This is an actual dream I experienced, which I will put in italics and in bold the 8 steps.

1.      Night of Dream: March, 2009
2.      Title: Mom as a Vampire
3.      Dream Description: I was sitting in a room with 3 candles, one was purple, and the rest I do not remember. It seemed as if I was going to begin some sort of ritual. As I turned I saw the back of a woman who looked like my mother (deceased). I hurried toward her saying “Mommy”. I touched her shoulder, as she turned around; she was a vampire. I stated “you’re not my mom” At that very moment in waking life my phone rang and it was “John” (it was around 2/3am).
4.      Overall Feeling of Dream: Relaxed, Happy, Sad, Surprised, Confused
5.      Life Circumstances Prior to Dream: ‘John’ had been trying to persuade me for months for me to venture into a business project with him. I continuingly said no and told him it was too good to be true. That week, I was thinking maybe I should enter the business project with him.
6.      Dream Images: Candles, Vampire, Woman, “Mother”, Room, Purple

7.      Feelings Upon Waking: Understanding, Relief,  Confirmation, an A-ha moment.

8.      Interpretation:  When ‘John’ called me at that moment, I instantly knew what my dream represented; someone that I knew (the back of the woman was my mother) was really not showing their true colors (my mother turned out to be a vampire). This person would be a draining and dangerous person (vampire). John had been deceiving me for months and ‘sucking’ my energy. In my dream I was beginning a ritual, when it was interrupted by me seeing my mom (this represented me beginning to sway and lean towards working with John).

I hope these 8 steps give you a better understanding of how you should record your dreams. If you would like to go more in depth, check out my articles on sleep and dream journals. Or check out my online store and purchase a dream consultation package.

Mix It Up Monday: Tres- Neck of the Woods

This weeks Mix It Up Mondays post is from Tres. His piece is entitled 'From Nothing' and is the fourth chapter of his book series. If you would like to read more from his book check out his blog. You can also contact him via Twitter.

From Nothing- Chapter Four: Neck of the Woods

Arizona has the dessert. Colorado has the mountains. Louisiana has the swamp.

It’s not a forest. A forest has lively creatures and singing birds, lots of sun, fog only in the morning or when its actually foggy out. Forests get cut down, and levelled, and when it rains, its soggy but it dries out well. You may find berries in a forest or shrubs and deer trying to eat said berries and shrubs. People camp, light fires, tell stories, and are for the most part aren’t scared unless they’ve been told about a witch or something.

Forests are not swamps.

Swamps have creatures that lurk, and get movies made about the things that could possibly live in it. It’s muddy, smelly, and chances are that you’re going to find a body or two. Day or night it’s a really bad scene and no one ever feels comfortable going there. You never know if the ground is even really ground or if its just a bunch of grass laid on top of water and if theres any wildlife underneath it. It’s not a desirable place to be, ever.

I’m sorry, I’m skipping ahead.

After my near whatever experience I had, I decided that it wouldn’t be smart of me to try and explain what had happened to either one of the strangers I was riding with. It would have made them think I was crazy, and brought attention to the fact that the meter was so high I couldn’t even come close to affording it. I was going to cross that road when I came to it, but unfortunately, in life, crossroads seem to come at us even when we’re sitting still.

”Sir, I’m going to need for you to pay for half of your fare now. I don’t usually take people this far and the meter is so high that I’m afraid you won’t pay,” the cab driver said, looking up into the mirror to see the girl stir awake in the back seat.

”I’m not going to pay for half of my ride now, that’s not how it works. I have money at the place I’m going to and I’ll pay you when I get there,” I scoffed, looking at him with a frown before turning away, crossing my arms.

The car was drowned in silence as i looked out the window, broken trees with ugly limbs reaching out to the road like old fingers with leaves. The morning was coming along and the silence of the car intensified the feeling of the sun as it came over the road. Driving east in the morning could be blinding, especially where the road was flat without enough clouds to cover it.

Normally it’d be an omen or a sign of good things to come.

That day, it only temporarily blinded the cab driver.

The cab jumped into the air and flipped what could have been more than ten times before sliding on its side into the forest, the front end sinking into a deep mud that consumed part of the front end of the car. I didn’t realize any of it, and I don’t remember exactly how it happened, but what i do remember is being pulled out of the car and held like a baby in strong arms. I drifted in and out of consciousness and forgot my name, where I was going, what had even happened. Dreams of a different life filled my mind, ones of me flying and others of battles and love I’d never known came and occupied my head. Frightening. Beautiful. Disturbing. Calm. It was all of these, and none at the same time.

When I finally came around, I could hear the water sloshing underneath me, though I was dry except for my shoes and below my knees. The water rippled off to the sides, and when I looked up I was so shocked that I jumped right in, splashing everywhere.

It was one of the grossest decisions I’d ever made.

Coming out of the water, I wiped me eyes to see the woman who had been sitting in the backseat was walking with me and, as it seemed, was also carrying me without too much stress in her eyes. Her face was angry, but her anger subsided as she set her hands on her hips and replaced her anger with simple irritation.

”No, no thank you Daniel. Thank you for pulling me out of the wrecked car. Thank you for carrying me for two days as you drooled on my brand new shirt. Thank you so so so much for letting me have the privilege of toting around this blessed one. You’re too much,” she ended, adjusting a few stray strands of hair before making her way past me.

”I never told you my name whoever you are!” I said, splashing water on her shirt as she walked away with her back to me. I didn’t take well to people walking away from me like that, and I guess she didn’t either.

”I’m Lelaine. And I’d put my fist through your chest if you weren’t so fucking important you stupid son of a… You know what, I’m going to just keep walking. I gotta get you home. Michalea’s orders,” she ended, walking back to me. Before I could yell back at her, I felt her fist go into my stomach and my eyes went black, taking me immediately back to my dreams where I was king.

Dreams like all things, however, have to come to an end sometime.

(End of Chapter Four)
(Next, Chapter Five: “Tougher Than She Looks”)

SITS Problogger Summer Challenge: Day 1

The day has finally arrived! The first day in the SITS Problogger Summer Challenge

Day one of the challenge may seem repetitive to those who have been reading the blog since inception. However, for all my new readers: Welcome to the Closed Lids Blog! This blog is just the tip of the iceberg. The blog is a part of my main business website Closed Lids. On this blog,  I discuss an array of topics that are sometimes directly or indirectly related to dreams, astrology, etc.

So on to the challenge! The task for today, was to create an elevator pitch.

Tagline- Dare to Blink, Dare to Close Lids

Short Pitch- Closed Lids encourages interactive discussions about dreams, astrology, spirituality, and more.

Elevator Pitch- Closed Lids represents ideas that may or may not be frequently viewed or discussed due to societal taboos. These ideas are not limited to astrology, reincarnation, numerology, spirituality, and other new age concepts. Closed Lids offers a variety of services which include insightful dream packages, astrological natal charts, along with engaging eBooks on a wide range of subjects. The goal of Closed Lids is to engage in interactive discussion to assist those looking for understanding.

This was an exciting task to complete, because it reminded me of the purpose of my blog and incited me to continue creating for all my old and new readers.

Looking forward to Day 2!

Ask L.Marie: Why do animals talk to me in my dreams

This question was originally posted on Twitter

Cool site maybe you can explain why a big white dog was talking to me in my dream - J

Thank you J, for your response. I did not answer this question right away because I wanted to think about it a little more. As I prepared for bed, I thought about what my response was going to be. At first I was just going to say that you need to pay attention to the advice given to you. I ended up falling asleep and when I woke up 30 minutes later, I decided that answer was not the route to go.

Two things came to me
1. A dog represents loyalty and 'man's' best friend. If taking this dream literally, I would tell you that a good friend of yours, possibly a best friend has been giving you advice. You might not be listening to what s/he is telling you, because you believe that s/he is incorrect. In this scenario the dog is another person.

2. The fact that the dog is talking, indicates to me that there is something deep down within you that  you intuitively should do. The reason why a talking dog stands out to me, is because animals can't talk lol. Well, they don't speak a language we understand. The dog talking shows me, that somewhere deep within you, you possess knowledge, intuition, and an understanding that will allow you to lead the life you desire. In this scenario the dog is you, and you need to listen to what you are thinking. Next time (if there is a next time) you have a dream of this nature, try to remember what the animal is saying to you.

7 Things You Didn't Know About Closed Lids

Wow, it has been about 9 month since I started the Closed Lids Blog.  In August 2009 I finished graduate school and in my head, I thought I was going to have a job right away. I had been applying for momths and figured something would come up once I finished school. By September, I realized that I probably was going to be unemployed for awhile.  After much brainstorming, the idea of Closed Lids came to me.  The original idea behind this blog was to serve as a medium for individuals who would like to learn and understand different ideas. While the blog and website has maintained its origins- dreams, astrology, etc; it has taken a new turn. I have been brainstorming on a few new segments and can’t wait to implement. As I reminince on the past 9 months, a few things come to mind.

  •          My First Post: My first post was November 26, 2009. Was that the day after Thanksgiving? Lol, I guess my mind wasn’t on food, it was on started my new idea. I was so excited to start the journey of beginning my own business.

  •          The Post I Enjoyed The Most:  My first article has to be the post I enjoyed the most. It was my first time outside of school, really sitting down and writing about something I enjoyed
  •          The Post With The Most Discussion: I guess it would have to be the one with the most comments and that isn’t a post I wrote. It was Mr. Transcend’s article about not wearing glasses.
  •          The Post On Someone Else's Blog That I Wish I Had Written:  Hmmm, well I guess it would be a post by Shaman Sun. It is hard to chose one from his site, because everything he writes is great content. I like the post he just wrote about Carl Jung.
  •          My Most Helpful Post:  My post about dream journals, would be my most helpful post. In this post, I give tips on how to record dreams and how it can help in recalling dreams.
  •          A Post With A Title I Am proud of:  This is not going to be a creative one lol. I am the worst at coming up with titles. I guess it would have to be my post about Mugwort.
  •          The Post I wish More People Would Read:  Well, it would have to be the one I just wrote asking readers to give me feedback.

There it goes 7 post that come to mind when I think back on my blogging. I am grateful that I found this article from Problogger about the 7 links challenge. I am so glad that I actually wrote about something. I am going to use this challenge for my other blog: Changing Woman- so look out for that today!

Mix It Up Mondays: What Do You Eat During An Oil Spill?

The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill or what many call the BP Oil Spill occurred late April 2010.  This disaster has effected everyone and everything; the land, the wildlife, the people. The truth and the details of the damages have appeared to be withheld from the general public. As a resident of the Northeast I can't help but feel for the people who live on the Gulf Coast, life as they know it has been forever changed. Life as we know it has been forever changed. Even though many of us are not effected directly by the oil spill, indirectly many of us will be.

I have always had interests in environmental issues, but recently, it has heightened. I would like to delve past the surface and research more on what the oil spill means for those in the Gulf region and beyond.

One question that came to mind: If you are a person who eats organic foods or has plant based diet do you still eat from the earth?

What is the better option for those in this scenario? Should a health conscious individual eat food from the ground, knowing that the rainfall has adversely effected the land. Or should they now purchase foods that are processed or not locally grown? Maybe ship foods from another state?

Which is safer? More Logical? A dilemma could arise for those health conscious individuals.

Individuals from other parts of the country should not be fooled into thinking this oil spill does not effect their region. I like to look at it through this analogy: if you were to drop food coloring into a bathtub filled with water, eventually the food coloring would disperse throughout the entire tub. It might not happen right away, but eventually the whole tub will be colored. This is how I view the oil spill.

Eventually we all will be effected. How will you react? And what will you do to help?

Listening to Your Dreams

Your dreams or meditations could be revealing messages to you that may make you more aware of the process that is your life. Even though when we are in alternate states of being we might not always be able to connect our insights to our current life, perhaps today you can try to do so. By listening to your subconscious as it presents itself to you through your dreams or meditative states, you may find questions to the answers you seek or a solution to an issue you have. Perhaps you can keep a journal handy, jotting down what you remember—images, sounds, words—from your dreams trying to be as specific as you can. You might even consult a dream dictionary to see if there is a hidden meaning to your visions that can help you further understand what your subconscious is trying to tell you.

Our dreams hold the key to what we truly need. For most of us it is easy to forget what we dream about throughout the night. Once in a while, however, there is a dream that grips us, igniting our intuition and giving us the sense that we need to pay attention to its message. Getting into the habit of noting your dreams today will heighten your awareness not only in your waking life but also in your dream life, making it easier to find patterns in your interactions or receive messages from your spiritual self. - Daily OM

Mix It Up Monday: Amber Realeza- Why Are Black People So Unhappy?

This weeks Mix It Up Monday post is from Amber Realeza, called  Why are Black People So Unhappy?  To read more by Amber Realeza check out more of her articles

Why Are Black People So Unhappy?

I feel that the African American culture is at a stand still. I believe this is all due to this self imposed suppression that generation after generation of African American men and women Foolishly claim as the reason they are unable to succeed in America. When the bottom line is The only reason a large percentage of the African American/ black population are unable to succeed....Is because they are to afraid to think outside of the box and try new things. This psychological defect seeps into every imaginable aspect of our lives and causes tremendous damage, including our ability to choose the right mates and partners. But by no means can our defective psychological tendencies be blamed on the African American male. We must share an equal part of the blame. Because not only does our impaired mental state affect our judgment of others it also affects the way that we treat others. We forget one very important aspect as well...and that is loving self before you even attempt to love anyone outside yourself. We often make the mistake of crucifying others and holding them in low regard without first looking at our own behaviors and evaluating if the way that we treat others is in fact equivalent to the way we would like to be treated. We have to start from square one. In this article it is not my intention to bash the African American woman or man. I am attempting to identify certain behaviors that are suppressive in nature that are also keeping us from moving forward and advancing our consciousness.

Observation #1
Criticizing and critiquing others (behind their backs)
This behavior is not helping you advance as a human being. This is in fact a suppressive behavior that is to blame for your  inability to move forward. If you must critique someone be sincere and constructive with your observation. Talking about a person behind there back and laughing at them are only adding negative tallies to our karma tic slate. Going to someone with the purest of intentions and out of love, sharing with them information that can make them a better person. While the information feedback that you gave is making that person a better person it is also making you a better person and setting you up to receive blessings in the future.

Observation #2
Not allowing yourself to learn from the mistakes you have made in the past.
Just because you are used to being treated like crap Does not mean that you are meant nor deserve to be treated this way.. All to often we subconsciously seek out mates with the same characteristics of the man that didn't treat us so well. In short we are using our un-pleasurable experience as an out line as opposed to using it as a learning tool that we can benefit from. Just keep in mind in ever misfortune there is a fortunate opportunity just open up your mind and find it.

Observation #3
Not realizing our worth.
The words that come out of our mouths and the body language and vibes we emit from our body are all to often contradictory. We are so quick to say what we deserve,, but all too quick to fall short of the necessary steps we need to take to actively pursue what it is we feel we deserve.

In closing the best thing you can do for yourself is take a long hard look in the mirror...identify your toxic behaviors and remedy those behaviors.....a broken down car can never move forward on its own without being fixed an repaired ...and neither can you.

What is Lucid Dreaming?

What is Lucid Dreaming? Dream Jester from Twitter gives a nice definition on his website

What is Lucid Dreaming?

Very simply put, a lucid dream is a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming. So long as you remain conscious of this fact you remain lucid (‘lucid’ is synonomous with ‘aware’ or ‘clarity’.) Lucidity is a sense or more a ‘knowing’ of your participation in dream reality, brought about by the realization that you’re dreaming.
The degree of your lucidity will vary between lucid dreams. You may be dimly aware that this is a dream, you may be consciously participating in a ‘normal dream’, you may have partial recognition and control, or you may be fully aware and awake inside your own dream world. This last is what most lucid dreamers aim for.
You’re likely to experience each of these in stages as you learn lucid dreaming, and each experience is a kind of breakthrough into greater awareness. As you increase this dreaming awareness, the more fully lucid dreams happen more regularly. For this reason lucid dreaming does get easier every time, just as with any practice you can get good at.
Lucid Dreaming implies a certain degree of dream control, though this also develops over time. Mostly because it takes a while for it to sink into your conscious awareness in a usable way that you can do anything, that you actually are control. But once you ‘get’ that, the possibilities are limitless!
Check out more cool articles on the website I Love Lucid. And a great eBook on Astral Travel.
